Edinboro University awarded its 24th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Award to 92 year old Luther Manus Jr. for his service to his country and his community. Luther served in the United States Army for 24 years after being drafted in 1946, experiencing the extreme racism present under the military’s segregation policies and during the conflicts in Korea and Vietnam. After military service he was a guidance counselor in the Erie School District for 20 years, and is still active in community organizations today. The Joseph Laythe Award for students who exemplify Edinboro University’s ideals went to Zeila Anne Hobson.
