Man Aims Shotgun at Police

59 year old Robert Smith of Meadville is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault on law enforcement, after allegedly pointing a shotgun at State Police Troopers responding to a noise complaint. Shortly before 8:30 Friday night Smith allegedly pressed the barrel of the weapon against a window as Troopers knocked on his front door. He surrendered peacefully after backup arrived. Smith’s criminal record makes it illegal for him to possess a firearm and police say they located five of them in his home.
