Former Erie Resident Sued by State

The Attorney General of Pennsylvania filed a lawsuit against a former Erie County businessman yesterday; alleging violations of Pennsylvania’s Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law. Josh Shapiro filed and announced a suit against Matthew C. Barnes, who is the owner and operator of two limousine rental services that operate in Pennsylvania and other states. The AG’s suit alleges that Barnes charges hidden fees that are hundreds of dollars in excess of the quoted price. It seeks restitution for each and every customer overcharged by Barnes’s Services and to prevent him from operating a vehicle rental business in the commonwealth.
