Man Arrested After Police Chase

Donald Smith of Cooperstown was arrested after leading a Venango County Sheriff’s Deputy and troopers from three different state police units on a low speed pursuit through Venango and Crawford Counties. The Deputy and troopers from Meadville, Franklin, and Corry pursued Smith along Route 427 and 27, then on to Fauncatown Road, and he finally stopped on Route 408. Smith refused to exit his vehicle and tried to drive away as troopers went to collect him, but the chase ended after an officer shot at his tires to stop him.


DUI Checkpoints in Erie County

In Erie County, state troopers will be setting up DUI checkpoints over the weekend. Starting tonight and ending on Sunday night troopers in Erie County will be watching for signs of impaired driving.

Help Solve a Crime

In Venango County the Franklin State Police are investigating a hit and run crash. On Saturday December 7th, it was discovered that someone had crashed into the side of the Methodist Church on West Home Road in Richmond Township and then drove away from the scene. In Warren County authorities are working a case on the theft of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry, collectible toys, art supplies, and other items from a home on Reed Road in Columbus Township. The burglary took place in early November and if you may have information please call the Corry State Police at (814)663-2043.

The Pennsylvania State Police in Clarion County are investigating the theft of multiple items from a white Peterbilt semi-truck tractor which was reported on Monday.
