Cochranton Woman Assaults Elderly Man

Venessa Frantz of Cochranton has been charged with assault and harassment after allegedly punching two men in the face on Monday night. Authorities say she’s accused of striking a 65 year old man in the eye which caused a bleeding wound and also of attacking another man shortly after he arrived at the scene. Frantz jumped through a window in an attempt to evade the police as they responded.

 

Knife Fight Lands Man in Jail

21 year old Darren Smith of Sugarcreek was taken into custody by police during an altercation in the parking lot of an establishment in the city of Franklin. Smith is accused of using a switchblade knife to cut the tires of motorcycles parked outside which instigated a fight. He related to police that he did it to help a friend and then refused to say anything else.

 

White House Christmas Tree Chosen from PA Farm

A Pennsylvania tree farmer will provide the White House Christmas tree for 2019. A 22 foot tall douglas fir from Mahantongo Valley Farms in Northumberland County will be harvested for display in the White House in November. Pennsylvania is the third largest producer of Christmas trees in the United States with just about 1,400 tree farmers.
