Criminal Charges for Man After Franklin Crash

A man named Oakley Sanford was arrested in Franklin after fleeing the scene of a car accident on foot. The crash happened shortly before 12:30 yesterday afternoon on Allenbaugh Road and witnesses related he ran from the scene. Upon being found by authorities on Meadville Pike its alleged he lied about his identity and later tried to pick the lock on his handcuffs with a paperclip; it’s also alleged that police found drug paraphernalia in his backpack. He’s been charged with possessing instruments of crime, attempted escape, possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI with drugs, false reports to law enforcement, causing an accident involving damage to an attended vehicle or property, and failing to give information or render aid at a crash scene.


MARC Reveals Progress on New Mural in Aquatic Center

The Meadville Area Recreation Complex and Northwestern Area Labor Federation held a joint press conference yesterday to reveal phase one of a new mural that will decorate the walls of the Aquatic Center. When completed the mural will be 42 feet long and is the senior project of Lindsey Sekereski and Kyler Kantz, who both also work as lifeguards at the pool over the summer.


Watch for Deer

Triple-A is warning Pennsylvania and Ohio drivers that the months of October, November, and December are the worst months of the year for collisions with whitetail deer. During this three month mating season it’s recommended to pay attention to deer crossings and to reduce your speed in curves to avoid a costly and sometimes deadly collision.


Witnesses Sought in Crimes

You could help solve a crime
On Tuesday September 24th a farmer caught multiple people stealing hemp crops from one of his fields on South Road near Centerville in Bloomfield Township Crawford County. The thieves escaped in a white sedan. Two days later, $16,000 worth of hemp was stolen from a field along Riceville Road in the same area. The theft of an Electric Meter from a building in Downtown Conneautville is being investigated. The meter was stolen from the side of a building shortly before midnight on Saturday September 21st. If you have information call the Meadville State Police at (814)332-6911.
On Saturday September 14th or Sunday the 15th, someone damaged the gas tanks and vent lines on two Ford F-150 pickup trucks on a car sales lot on State Route 257 in Cranberry Township. Please call (814)676-6596 with information.
