Severe Storms Knock Out Power and Block Roads

A severe thunderstorm rolled through our coverage area Sunday afternoon and evening and in some places, damage is still being managed. No roads were reported as flooded but crews are still clearing away debris on highways and in towns. A downdraft struck in the town of Meadville and caused significant chaos as it pushed trees and branches into streets and knocked down utility lines, but as of 5 o’clock this morning most streets have been reopened.  Electric companies are still working to repair downed lines and restore power to areas where its been out for as long as 12 hours in some cases, at 6AM Penelec is reporting as many as 500 customers still without power and Northwestern REC reports about 150; everyone is expected to have power back before noon today.
