73 Year Old Man Arrested for Robbery

Clarion County Authorities have charged 73 year old Thomas Burns with Robbery, Theft, Harrassment, and Assault after his arrest on Sunday August 11th. Details are currently not available but the victims are identified as a 38 year old man and woman living near the town of Sligo in Piney Township, Clarion County. Burns is being held in Clarion County Jail after failing to make $5,000 bail.

 

Edinboro Joins Age Friendly Universities

Edinboro University announced last week that it has become the first school in Pennsylvania to join the Age Friendly University Global Network. The AFU includes more than 150 universities in Europe, Asia, and North America and is focused on providing educational experiences for adults in their second half of life, even including retirees.

 

Single Smoke Detector Found at Scene of Deadly Erie Fire

Pennsylvania State Senator Dan Laughlin has raised concerns about conditions at an Erie daycare center that caught on fire Sunday. A family daycare in Erie made national headlines after a fire took the lives of five children that were being looked after there. An investigation revealed only a single smoke detector was located in the facility and that it had a dead battery. Four of the five children killed were siblings.
