TRI COUNTY REPORT FOR JULY 22ND, 2019

New Castle City Police have arrested a Beaver Falls man in connection with the deadly shooting of a 17 year old. According to the department’s Facebook page, 41 year old Michael Dbiagio  is being charged with criminal homicide and aggravated assault in the death of Darren Scott Jevcak. The victim is the boyfried onf Dbiagio’s daughter. The shooting to place outside of a New Castle business in 1000 block of Highland Avenue Friday evening.

A Portersville man was taken to the hospital following a one vehicle accident in Muddy Creek Township. State Police report Matthew Young was traveling on Cheeseman Road when he struck a ditch, causing the vehicle to roll over and strike a telephone police. Youngs was flown to UPMC Presbyterian hospital for treatment. Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

President Trump will visit Wheeling this week for a private fundraiser.  He’s expected to be in Wheeling Wednesday for an event hosted by the president and CEO of Murray Energy, Bob Murray.  The fundraiser is not open to the public.

An Ellwood City man faces forgery charges after cashing checks that weren’t his. 27 year old Brooks Robinson is accused of stealing three checks  totaling over 900 dollars from an Emelton man, and forging his signature. The investigation is ongoing.

State DEP officials say they have removed all the chemicals from one of two buildings at a former pool products store that had a chemical fire this month.  Contractors have already taken down the smaller of the two buildings at the former Pool Doctor – Beaver Alkali Products on New York Avenue.  The fire July 12th created a chemical cloud that caused a weekend shelter order for everyone within a five-mile radius.  DEP officials are blaming a reaction of materials in the building for that fire.

State Police in Mercer County responded to a crash that the passengers and driver fled. The crash took place on Veterans Road in Springfield Township. According to the report, the driver crossed the double line, went off a roadway and then struck a tree. Passengers were taken to the hospital and the driver was found at her home around 7:40 a.m. 21 year old Mariyah Simoni, faces a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.

Several spots across Western Pennsylvania are beginning to clean up after a band of strong storms moved through the area.  Parts of Uniontown saw flooding as the storms broke the heat wave the area saw through the weekend.  Allegheny, Fayette, Washington, and Westmoreland counties each had Flash Flood Warnings expire overnight.

There are still no charges filed in the shooting death of a Pittsburgh police officer, though a person of interest remains in custody.  Last week, the to-be-identified man was arrested on charges unrelated to the shooting last Saturday in Monticello Street in Homewood.  Officer Calvin Hall died days later at the hospital.

Fire damaged a duplex in Sharon last night. The Sharon Herald report the fire took place at a duplex on Osmand Avenue around 10pm. The kitchen in one of the units was gutted and there was smoke and fire damage throughout the building. A pot of oil on the stove caught on fire. No injuries were reported.

A man is facing arson charges after a fire this weekend in Butler.  It broke out Saturday morning at a vacant Broad Street home then spread to a neighboring house.  Victor Weltner was spotted leaving the back of the home before the fire and was arrested later.  The 24-year-old was reportedly intoxicated at the time.
