Crash Kills New York Man

A Lockport New York man was killed in a crash in the northern part of Crawford County. Authorities say that 35 year old Terrance Rose 2nd was not wearing his seatbelt when his car struck a telephone pole off the side of route 77 in Sparta Township and rolled onto its driver’s side. Crawford County Coroner Scott Schell declared him dead at the scene on Saturday afternoon.


Bronx Man Injured in I-80 Crash

On Saturday morning near the Venango County city of Emlenton another New York resident was injured when two commercial vehicles collided on Interstate 80. Mashoudou Kariko of Bronx New York complained of neck and shoulder pain when his commercial van overturned onto its driver’s side after clipping a semi truck near mile marker 39.


PennDOT Maintenance Schedules Released

PennDOT’s District 1 maintenance schedule includes the closure of a bridge carrying Route 426 over Bear Creek in Corry and traffic signal testing near the VA Hospital in Erie. A full schedule can be found on our website. District 1 includes Crawford, Erie, Forest, Warren, Venango, and Mercer Counties.


Deer Injures Two Bikers

A deer jumping into the road caused an accident that injured two motorcyclists in Allegheny Township, Venango County. Louis and Cynthia Rago were traveling on Route 36 and fell off their bike when the animal ran in front of them unexpectedly. They were both taken to Titusville Hospital to mostly be treated for scrapes and bruises.


PSSHE Freezes Tuition at 2018 Levels

The Board of Governors for the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education or PSSHE have voted not to raise tuition costs for State Universities for the 2019-2020 semesters. The cost for a Pennsylvania resident to attend a State University such as Edinboro or Clarion will remain at about $7,700 for the foreseeable future.


Floods Kill Woman and Child in Eastern PA

Flooding caused by heavy rains claimed the lives of a pregnant woman and her 8 year old son last week in Berks County. Police officers trying to save them were unable to reach their car before they were washed away and their bodies were found still in the vehicle on Friday night.
