Cochranton Man Shot Outside Meadville

An unidentified Meadville man is the suspect in a Sunday night shooting. Shortly before 8:30PM he and a 36 year old Cochranton man were in the midst of an altercation when the victim was shot in the right leg with the bullet passing through and into his left leg. The victim was released from Meadville Medical Center with non life threatening injuries and authorities are calling it a case of aggravated assault.

 

PIAA Director Pans Bernstein Playoff Bill

Speaking in front of House Committee, the director of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Robert Lombardi was critical of a bill to separate public and private schools during high school playoff games. Lombardi called it legislative overreach and stated that the current PIAA rules already have a positive impact on competitive balance between public and private schools. State Representative Aaron Bernstein from Butler County proposed the bill earlier this month.

 

Senate Approves Nurse Practitioner Bill

Nurse practitioners may one day be able to open up their own clinics and offices. The Pennsylvania State Senate approved a bill last week that would allow a nurse practitioner to apply for full practice authority if they work with a regular physician for at least 3 years and 3,600 hours. A nurse practitioner is separate from an ordinary nurse in that they have the training and authority to prescribe medication, examine patients, diagnose illnesses, and provide treatment, similar to a medical doctor.
