Couple Charged with Child Abuse After Locking Daughter in Closet
Office of PA Attorney General Josh Shapiro
A Clarion County husband and wife are facing charges of endangering the welfare of a child, false imprisonment, and other crimes related to assault and child abuse against their adopted daughter. It’s alleged that after discontinuing their adopted daughter’s ADHD medication Samantha and Joseph Ferguson would punish the girl by binding her hands with duct tape or hand cuffs and forcing her to stay in a utility closet that contained exposed wires, hot water pipes, and other household hardware. When the girl cried out in pain or distress they would duct tape her mouth shut.
Turnpike Commission Faces Bankruptcy
Pennsylvania Auditor General Eugene Depasquale has warned that the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission may be on its way to insolvency. According to the latest audit performed by Depasquale’s office the authority is currently more than $11 billion in debt, more debt than the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania itself, and in severe danger of defaulting on that debt. The Auditor General warned that simply raising tolls or waving the $450 million per diem paid by the Turnpike Authority to PennDOT would not be enough.
