Erie Man Arrested for Indecent Assault on Child

Jacob Hendershot of Erie was arrested by State Police and charged with crimes related to indecent assault stemming from sexual contact he made in 2010 with a then eight year old girl. According to a public information report Hendershot admitted to making inappropriate contact with the child on two separate occasions and is being held on $50,000 bail in Erie County Jail.


Deadline for Act 1 Homestead/Farmstead Tax Exclusions Looms

From the Office of Crawford County’s Chief tax Assessor Joe Galbo, any property owners seeking tax relief under the Homestead/Farmstead exclusion have until next Friday, March 1st to turn in their application. All applications must arrive by mail or be hand delivered to your county’s assessment office by March 1st or you will not qualify for any exemptions. Calls for Audit of Loan to Out of State Timber Company

Pennsylvania Lawmakers are seeking an audit on a $50 million infrastructure loan granted to New Hampshire based Lyme Timber Company to purchase land in our region. Auditor General Eugene Depasquale says he’s open to do an audit if he can find space in his department’s budget and that such an audit would be very complex.


Ohio Man Arrested for Extradition

A Youngstown Ohio man named Arlis Casey Junior was arrested in Conneaut Lake for extradition to Ohio. Casey had an active arrest warrant issued by the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office for violating probation for prior charges including Attempted Murder and Felonious Assault.


Rollover Crash Sends Man to Hospital

A Titusville man was hospitalized with potentially severe injuries after rolling his car into someone’s front yard on Sunday. Josiah Southwick lost control while driving along State Highway 89 in Sparta Township, Crawford County and hit a ditch at enough speed to roll his Honda Civic onto its roof.


Lawmakers Focus on Job Training and Tech Schools

Workforce development and education has been a huge focus in Harrisburg over the last couple of weeks. Governor Tom Wolf received bipartisan accolades when he announced the creation of the Keystone Economic Development and Workforce Command Center. Meanwhile Pennsylvania’s House Education Committee has been reviewing a package of eight bills designed to improve career and technical education in the commonwealth.
