Man Sleeping on Road Found With Drugs, Guns, Alcohol
State Troopers arrested 43 year old Ted Ballew in Crawford County after a short vehicle and foot pursuit on Sunday. Ballew tried to flee while troopers were talking with him after he was found sleeping in a vehicle on the side of the road Sunday afternoon. While trying to flee he got stuck in a snowbank by the roadside and was arrested while trying to flee on foot into the woods. Ballew was found to be in possession of three unregistered firearms, marijuana and paraphernalia, and methamphetamines. He’s currently awaiting arraignment in Crawford County Jail.
Sandusky Gains Resentencing Hearing
A Pennsylvania Superior Court has called for a resentencing hearing for former assistant Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky. During its decision the court upheld his 45 sexual assault convictions but determined that mandatory minimum sentencing laws were misapplied to his case. Sandusky received a 30 to 60 year prison sentence in 2012 after being convicted of multiple child sexual assaults.
Governor Tom Wolf Gives PA Budget Address

Yesterday at 11:30 in the morning Pennsylvania’s Governor Tom Wolf delivered his 25 minute budget address before the house and senate of the General Assembly; outlining his vision for his second term and his budget plan for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. The Governor then announced his biggest priorities were education, healthcare, the battle against the opioid epidemic, and agriculture. The $34 billion budget proposal included the first mandated increase in teachers’ salaries in 30 years and a proposal to gradually increase the minimum wage to $12 an hour. Governor Wolf’s largest budget increase was in education where he proposed an additional $250 million to be apportioned between elementary, high school, and special education; and another $7 million for the State System of Higher Education.
