Police Investigate Rape in Oil City

State Police Troopers from Franklin are investigating an alleged forcible rape that took place in Oil City between 3 and 6 am on Thursday January 31st. According to troopers a 48 year old woman was raped by a known but not identified suspect at a residence on Harold Street.


National Fuel Increases Rates in PA

National Fuel has announced a 2.01% increase in prices effective Friday February 1st. According to National Fuel this will increase the customers average bill by about $1.46 a month. National Fuel will also be raising their price to compare rate to $0.45035 per 100 cubic feet (or CCF).


ACLU Opposes Marsy’s Law Amendment

The Marsy’s Law Amendment in Pennsylvania has an unexpected opponent, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The group says that provisions in the amendment violate important Constitutional Rights for the accused, such as presumption of innocence and a right to know what evidence is being brought against them. Attorneys in the ACLU say that altering existing laws and statutes to reflect some Marsy’s Law provisions would be an easier process and better for the rights of both the victim and the accused in a court case.


Crawford County Corrections Officer Charged With Assault

An official criminal complaint has been filed against Bryan Minman, a corrections officer at the Crawford County Jail. In an incident caught on camera July of 2018 Minman struck an inmate named Carl Gibson in the face and fractured his eye socket. An investigation into the incident by District Attorney Francis Schultz has lead to criminal charges of official oppression and simple assault.


Camp Cadet Registrations Starts Today

The Pennsylvania State Police Troop E and the Erie Kiwanis Club are pleased to announce that registration for Camp Cadet Starts today and runs through the end of March. Camp Cadet is a week long camp staffed 24/7 by State Troopers open to 13-15 year old teenagers from Erie, Crawford, Warren, and Venango Counties.
