Former Springboro Secretary Arrested for Stealing Funds

Detectives of the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations arrested former Secretary of Springboro Michelle Phillips for theft and other crimes. It’s alleged that during her tenure she stole more than $92,000 from the town of Springboro for her own personal use. She’s currently being held in Crawford County Jail on $75,000 bail.


State Troopers Investigating Church Burglary

Authorities in Venango County are looking for information on the burglary of Van United Methodist Church in Cranberry. Sometime on the 16th or 17th this month a 50 inch television, DVD player, Sound System, and projector were stolen from inside. Conneaut Lake Woman Arrested for Stealing from Scholarship Fund

The Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested Denise Thomas and charged her with theft by deception. It’s alleged that she stole funds from the Carl Henninger Scholarship Foundation administered by the Our Lady Queen of the Americas Catholic Church in Conneaut Lake. Thomas, who was once a church employee, reportedly manipulated tuition bills so that the church overpaid costs and then she diverted the difference to a checking account.


Washington Crossing Reenactment Cancelled

The reenactment of George Washington’s crossing of the Delaware River in 1776 was cancelled this year due to high water levels. In 1776 then General Washington of the Colonial Army lead soldiers across the river on Christmas Night from Pennsylvania to New Jersey then attacked and defeated mercenaries fighting for the British Army. All other events related to the anniversary celebration were still completed. High winds cancelled last years crossing.
