Woman Injured Avoiding Head on Collision

A 19 year old Hartstown woman named Megan Greenwald was hospitalized in a single car crash at about 10:30 yesterday morning. While she traveled west on Highway 322 through East Fallowfield Township Crawford County another motorist entered her lane and Megan was injured when she left the road in an attempt to avoid a head on collision.

 

False Robbery Reporter Charged for Fabricating Evidence and More

Sheena Weed of Union City has officially been charged by police after falsely reporting she was robbed in front of Corry Memorial Hospital earlier this month. She faces four counts including Tampering with or Fabricating Evidence, and False Reports to Law Enforcement, after calling 911 to report she had been robbed at gunpoint of $2,100 by two deer hunters.

 

Battle Between PA and PPLJA Comes to a Close

It seems the extended legal battle between the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Professional Liability Joint Underwriting Association (or PPLJA) has come to an end. A federal judge has issued a permanent injunction against the state saying it cannot enforce a law that claims $200 million in PPLJA assets because the association is a private entity and doing so without compensation is an unreasonable seizure. PPLJA was created with state funding in the 1970’s and provides malpractice insurance for medical doctors in Pennsylvania; the commonwealth claims that the excess funds generated by the nonprofit corporation belong to the state.
