Tires Stolen from Car in Driveway

Between 1:30AM and 9AM yesterday morning one or more actors stole the tires directly off of a car owned by a 53 year old Union City man. All four wheels including tires and rims were taken right off the vehicle as it sat in his driveway on Kimball Hill Road in Erie County’s Union Township. Rep. Oberlander Recognized as Rural Health Legislator of the Year

State Representative Donna Oberlander who represents Clarion County as well as parts of Forest and Armstrong Counties was honored as Pennsylvania’s Rural Health Legislator of the year. The award is from the Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health and comes in recognition of her achievements while serving on the PA House Committee on Health and Human Services.

 

Study Finds Millions of PA Residents in Financial Trouble

The Coalition for Low Income Pennsylvanians and the Coalition on Human Needs has released their Pennsylvania Poverty Snapshot; a report that shows only a small reduction in Poverty in the Commonwealth. The report goes on to reveal findings that around 5 million Pennsylvanians either live in or near poverty, meaning nearly half the State’s population live in what is considered dire financial straits.

 

Child Leads Troopers to Fight

A naked child running around the neighborhood seeking help for her mother led to harassment charges for a 22 year old Seneca man. According to State Police the child ran outside to get help for her mom when a physical altercation started between the mother and the suspect.

 

Ribbon Cutting at Edinboro University

Tomorrow, Thursday October 25th at 5PM, Edinboro University will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for their new and improved Center for Branding and Strategic Communication. The center provides free assistance to local nonprofits and entrepreneurs in public relations, advertising, graphic design, web design and social media management. Tomorrow’s ribbon cutting will also include a showcase of projects already completed by students working in there. The Center is part of the Northwest Pennsylvania Innovation Beehive Network, which is a collaboration between Edinboro, Penn State Behrend, Gannon, and Mercyhurst.

 

Disgraced PA Mayor Sentenced to 15 Years

The former Mayor of Allentown, Ed Pawlowski, was sentenced yesterday to 15 years in prison for multiple campaign finance violations. Pawlowski was convicted by a jury in May of extorting money from bidders on city contracts to fund his political ambitions. He plans to file an appeal.
