Garage Fire Kills 80 Year Old Man
Fire Marshals from the Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the cause and origins of a garage fire that took the life of an 80 year old man from Meadville. Paul Onesky called 911 a little after 7:30 yesterday morning to report the fire in his garage and first responders believe he entered the garage for unknown reasons shortly after and became trapped in the inferno.
SUV vs Semi Leads to Injuries
A Cranberry man was injured on Route 322 after crashing his SUV into a semi truck. Edwin Carter of Tyler Texas was taking his truck westward down 322 when Tennille Williams from Cranberry suddenly crossed the center line in his SUV, side swiped the truck’s bumper, and collided head on with the dual wheels. Williams was forced into the guide rails by the impact and suffered undetermined injuries.
PennDOT Prepares for Winter Maintenance Work
PennDOT will no longer be posting updated work schedules for 2018 as they transition from summer to winter maintenance activities. While work crews switch focus to keeping roads passable they will continue other activities as long as weather permits.
Three Airlifted after Jeep Hits Tree
Four teenagers between 16 and 19 years old were injured when a jeep collided with a tree on State Highway 408 in Troy Township, Crawford County. Shortly before 5:30 yesterday afternoon the 17 year old driver lost control and the jeep veered off the road into a tree then rolled over. The driver and one passenger were trapped inside the vehicle and had to be removed through mechanical means. Three of the four victims were flown to UMPC Hamot by Stat Medevac.
Five Injured, One Trapped, in Perry Highway Crash
Five were injured and one entrapped in Crawford County’s Vernon Township on Friday when a southbound vehicle attempted a left hand turn in the path of one heading north. All five were taken to Meadville Medical Center.
PA DOC Sees Immediate Improvement in Prisons After New Rules
Pennsylvania’s department of corrections is reporting major reductions in drugs in State Prisons after creating new protocols. The new rules were put in place after guards at several prisons were sickened by synthetic marijuana in August. There has been a 50% reduction in tests positive for drugs among inmates, and a reduction in assaults on both prisoners and guards.
