Woman Trapped as Downed Power Lines Close Road

22 year old Marisa Barker of Titusville was injured and trapped for two hours inside her Ford Escape because of live power lines draped across her vehicle. The power lines were the cause for a closure of Route 417 in Oakland Township, Venango County on Tuesday after Marisa hit a utility pole and sheared it in half. Eventually Oakland Volunteer Firefighters and Franklin State Police were able free her and she was flown to UPMC Hamot by STAT Medevac.

 

More than Half a Million in Grants awarded for Water Infrustructure in NW PA

More than $566,000 have been awarded in grant money for water infrastructure projects in our area. Most of the grants come from the Small Water and Sewage Program administered by the state, but smaller amounts came from the Marcellus Legacy Fund, and Watershed Restoration Protection Program.

 

Gunman Killed in Near Pittsburgh After Injuring 4

Patrick Dowdell was killed by a German Township Police officer in the Pittsburgh suburb of Masontown after he opened fire on people inside the Masontown Borough Center. The 61 year old was due for a 1pm court appearance to address charges related to strangulation of his wife in August. Witnesses say that after an argument with his wife over a PFA filed against him Dowdell shot and injured four people before he was killed by the officer.
