Tri County Report For July 23rd, 2018

State Police in Butler County report a two vehicle accident in Penn Township Friday afternoon. According to police 51 year old Thomas Rodgers of Butler was southbound on Pittsburgh Road when he crossed the center line and struck a car vehicle operated by 22 year old Korrey Kuminkoski also of Butler. Kuminkoski was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital for treatment. Rodgers was taken to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment.

The Ellwood City Ledger is reporting A Zelienople man has been accused of holding a handgun to the head of a man visting his ex-girlfriend in Ellwood City. Police have charged 24 year old Liam Hess with reckless endangerment, aggravated and simple assault, carrying an unlicensed firearm and making terroristic threats. The Ellwood City woman confirmed the incident and told police that Hess had recently moved out of the home, but still had a key. A warrant has been issued for Hess’ arrest.

Two people were taken to the hospital following a motorcycle accident Friday afternoon in Muddy Creek Township. State Police in Butler County report 50 year old Troy Green of Monaca was traveling on Route 19 when he lost control of his motorcycle and fell over. Green was flown to UPMC Presbyterian hospital. A passenger, 59 year old Debra Green was taken by ambulance also to UPMC Presby for treatment.

State Police in Beaver County report a Darlington man was killed in a motorcycle crash Friday night. According to police the accident took place on Taggart Road when 61 year old Kenneth R. Pander crashed into a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into the crash is continuing.

Police are searching for whoever is responsible for vandalizing a church bus in Sharon Saturday night. WKBN-TV is reporting Members of the West Hill Ministries in Sharon said there were graphic images and profanity written all over the bus.  It happened just after the WaterFire Sharon festival.  Sharon police are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact them.

Westmoreland County court officials say they are going to have trials more often to catch up on a backlog of cases.  Officials say starting in August they will allow cases from the northern part of the county to go to court every month instead of every other month.  Representatives say that part of Westmoreland County typically has more jury trials over plea bargained cases.

Officials say more than two dozen people are hurt after two chartered buses crashed in downtown Pittsburgh Sunday.  Officials say the buses were carrying ballet students going from Chatham University to the Gateway Clipper docks.  It’s reported the second bus rear-ended the first causing the 28 minor injuries.

Investigators say a burned car was found with a body inside in a Fayette County field Friday.  Police say the car is similar to the one a missing Perryopolis woman was said to be driving when she was last seen Wednesday.  Investigators say the car is too damaged to identify the vehicle and the body couldn’t be immediately identified.  Investigators say 74-year-old Caroline Branthoover was last seen leaving a Star Junction bar early Wednesday morning.

A Washington man is in custody after allegedly burglarizing two businesses in the last month.  Investigators say 33-year-old Jeriod Fields was arraigned Friday for trying to break into The New Tower Restaurant on West Chestnut Street and Washington Automotive on North Main Street.  Police think Fields may have also hit The Smoke Shop on Highland Avenue Friday night and a Uni-Mart gas station June 27th.  Fields is in Washington County Jail on 35-thousand-dollars bond.
