Bridge Replacement Postponed in Venango County

Construction work on the Rockland Cranberry Road Bridge in Venango County has been temporarily suspended until late July. Construction was originally supposed to begin on Monday but has been held up until Monday July 23rd. The Rockland Cranberry Road Bridge carries route 2013 over East Sandy Creek and joins Cranberry and Rockland Townships. A detour will take drivers along Rockland Nickleville Road (Route 2002), Route 38, and Route 322.

 

State University Tuition Increases for Fourth Time in as Many Years

The Pennsylvania State System for Higher Education will be increasing tuition costs by another 3% for the 2018-2019 school year. Only four of the 20 members of the Board of Governors opposed the rate hike which will be the fourth consecutive rise in tuition costs. Full time Pennsylvania residents will see a $224 increase in tuition fees and pay an average of $7,716 per semester.

 

PA Makes First Bank Deposit in 10 Years

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has deposited money into its rainy day fund for the first time in nearly a decade. Governor Tom Wolf authorized $22 million dollars in budget surplus to be moved into the Treasury Department’s rainy day fund. The Governor and other lawmakers hope that this will send a positive message to creditors.
