Happy Independence Day
DUI task forces consisting of State and Local police officers will be making regular patrols and setting up DUI checkpoints across the state. The Independence holiday is one of the most dangerous holidays for drivers, last year there were 381 alcohol related traffic accidents and more than 4,000 DUI arrests during the week of July 4th. Be safe this holiday and please do not drive while impaired by drugs or alcohol.
It’s a busy holiday travel season this year. Triple-A estimates almost 2 million Pennsylvanian’s will travel fifty miles or more to celebrate Independence Day at some point this week. Gas prices are lower than they were on Memorial Day but not by much with an average of around $3.10 per gallon across the Commonwealth. The average price per county right now varies by several cents: Forest County is the cheapest in the area with an average of about $3.01 per gallon and Warren County is the most expensive with an average of $3.14. Gas is retailing near $3.11 for Crawford, $3.13 in Venango, and $3.08 in Mercer and Erie. In Ashtabula and Trumbull Counties gas retails at $2.77 a gallon, and a gallon is worth $2.93 in Chautauqua.
