Teen Charged for Assaulting Counselors

A juvenile female is being charged with aggravated and simple assault after attacking two counselors at the Andromeda House in Spartansburg. Last Thursday evening a 14 year old kicked a female counselor numerous times in the face, throat, and body and then bit a male counselor who tried to intervene. Andromeda House is a treatment center for teenage girls with mental health issues and problems within the child welfare or juvenile justice systems.


Dining With Diabetes Starts in June

Penn State Extension
Every Wednesday in the month of June Penn State Extension will be hosting it’s high impact Dining with Diabetes program. The program teaches adults with diabetes in proper foods and cooking techniques to maintain a healthy diet. The cost of the entire program is only $5 and an informational meeting will be held at 1PM in the Lakeland Valley Senior Center of Linesville on Wednesday May 30th.


Federal Court to Hear Suit Against Transgender Bathroom Access

This thursday the 3rd Circuit Court in Philadelphia will be hearing a case that challenges Berks County School District’s policy on transgender students. The policy allows students who identify as transgender to seek permission to use the facilities consistent with their identities. A group of parents and students claims its a form of harassment against students who aren’t trans identified.


Police Search for Titusville Area Burglar and Accomplice

An attempted burglary in Crawford County’s Oil Creek Township ended in an altercation and an escape. At around 10:30PM on Thursday May 17th a white male broke into the Hydetown Road home of an anonymous victim through the unlocked front door and took money. The anonymous occupant struggled with the burglar who then fled the scene in a dark colored full sized pickup driven by a woman. Mechanic Discovers Drug Stash in Car

Franklin State Police are not releasing the identity of a man who faces charges after his drugs were discovered Monday. A mechanic at 4 Your Car Connection discovered a stash of dope while working on a car.


Medical Marijuana Research Halted by PA Judge

A judge has filed an injunction halting medicinal marijuana research in Pennsylvania. The Commonwealth’s 11 licensed growers sought the injunction because it allows State Universities to contract with other growers for their research supply. Judge Patricia McCullough agreed it was a back door to getting a permit to cultivate and dispense the drug without going through the normal channels.
