One Week Left to File Your Taxes

The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue is alerting citizens that starting today there is only one week left to file your taxes before April 17th. With this being the final week of tax preparation the Department of revenue will have their offices and hotlines open for extended hours this week. Educational Breakfast Helps Seniors with Finance

Pennsylvania State Representative Tedd Nesbit will be hosting two educational breakfast events for senior citizens. The breakfasts will focus on financial issues elder Pennsylvanians are affected by such as internet and phone scams. This is your last day to reserve a spot at one of two events. The first breakfast will be at 9:30am on Friday April 13th at Unionville Fire Company and the second on the 20th at Mercer County Career Center. Call (724)458-4911.


State News: Route 30 Collapses Outside PIttsburgh

An entire section of Route 30 near eastern Pittsburgh collapsed and plummeted nearly 40 feet down a hill. While nobody was injured by the collapse every resident of a nearby apartment complex was evacuated when part of one of the buildings collapsed along with the road.

Shred Your Old Documents in Mercer County for Free

On Saturday April 28th from 9 AM until noon State Representatives Parke Wentling and Tedd Nesbit will be hosting a document shredding event open to the public. During the event participants will learn some tips to avoid having their identity stolen by criminals and be able to destroy sensitive documents they no longer need. The event will take place at the PennDOT maintenance building in Mercer and you can contact the offices of Park Wentling or Ted Nesbit for more details.


The Second Annual Hero Dash and Splash is Around the Corner

Sugarcreek Borough Police Department as well as Union and Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Departments are hosting their 2nd Annual Hero Dash and Splash on April 28th. The Dash and Splash is a 5K Run or Walk at Two Mile Run. Pre-registration fees are $30 for runners and $25 for walkers. Five Days of Gun Violence Hearings in PA Legislature

Yesterday the Pennsylvania House of Representatives held the first of five hearings about gun violence scheduled for this week. During yesterday’s hearing Democratic and Republican legislators discussed the topics of school safety, background check loopholes, and a potential ban on bump stocks.
