Two Adults, Child, Injured in Crawford County Crash

Pennsylvania State Police, Meadville
Two adults were injured and one child possibly injured in a two car crash on route 285 in Crawford County’s Greenwood Township. State Police say 18 year old Amber Speakman temporarily lost control of her Chevy Malibu and collided with a car containing Meagan Bartic and her seven year old daughter. Both adults reported injuries to police and the child was checked for injuries at Meadville Medical Center.


No Injuries in DUI Crash on 322

A 65 year old man was arrested for DUI after a collision in Venango County on Sunday. 
The unnamed driver was sitting at a blinking red light at the intersection of State Routes 257 and 322. They pulled out on to 322 in front of a vehicle that had a blinking yellow light and the two collided nearly head on. No injuries were reported but State Police from Franklin took the man to UPMC for a blood alcohol level test.


State News: Westmoreland Sheriff Arrested for Corruption

Westmoreland County Sheriff Jonathan Held has been charged with felony conflict of interest and other corruption related crimes by the Office of Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro. It is alleged that while running for re-election in 2015 Sheriff Held was using active duty deputies to solicit and collect gifts and donations to his campaign. He is also accused of altering the schedules of deputies who he thought were cooperating with the state’s investigation into the matter.

State Police Discover Evidence in Meadville Burglary

While serving a warrant for a man who skipped parole State Police discovered evidence related to a Meadville area burglary. Austin Hutchinson was arrested Sunday morning at the Quality Inn in Vernon Township Crawford County and Troopers found several items of related to a theft investigation by Meadville PD. Hutchinson is currently at SCI Albion for absconding parole while Meadville’s authorities work on their case.


64 Year old Woman Injured in Crash

Pennsylvania State Police, Franklin
A 64 year old Crawford County Woman was seriously injured in a one car crash near Titusville. Jane Johnson was traveling west on State Route 27 when she failed to negotiate a left turn and collided with a culvert, flipping her car one and a half times. It came to final rest on its roof after being stopped by a wooden church’s sign. Jane was taken to Titusville Hospital and then transferred to UPMC Hamot.


Teacher’s Threaten Strike

After a year and a half of negotiations nearly 3,000 Pittsburgh Area Teachers are prepared to go on strike if negotiations between the union and the school board yield no results. A state appointed mediator is overseeing today’s round of negotiations which include issues such as pay for early childhood educators and principals having the authority to set teacher’s schedules.
