A Pittsburgh man remains held in the Mercer County Jail without bond after appearing in court on charges filed following a fatal shooting death in Farrell. 27 year old Gerald Allen Frank was arraigned Saturday before a District Judge on charges of criminal homicide, theft, robbery, and conspiracy to commit murder. Frank was arrested by State Police Thursday night in connection with the shooting death of 49-year-old Harry Kennedy Jr. at a home on Wallis Avenue. Police believe Frank attempted to rob Kennedy of cash and narcotics.Frank’s next hearing is scheduled for January 26th.

Pennsylvania’s highest court is set to hear oral arguments Wednesday on whether PA’s congressional district lines are fair.  A pair of lawsuits were fast tracked through lower courts so a decision could come from the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in time for this year’s midterm elections.  All 18 of Pennsylvania’s congressional seats are up for grabs in 2018

No river traffic will use the Ohio River near Emsworth Lock and Dam for a while after several barges broke loose.  Officials with the Army Corps of Engineers say several of those broken-free barges are jammed against the dam and, for the time being, will stay that way.  Officials add that luckily it doesn’t appear the dam sustained any damage, despite five barges going over.

State Police in Butler County report a one vehicle accident yesterday afternoon in Landcaster Township.  According to police 31 year old Shawn Forsythe of Slippery Rock was Southbound on Interstate 79 when he lost control of his car, traveled through a grass median, across both northbound lanes and struck a guardrail. Police said Forsythe was not hurt.

The owner of Pizza Milano says he’s fired the restaurant’s manager after he assaulted a customer Friday night.  Police say 41-year-old Mahmut Yilmaz attacked Jade Martin after she refused to leave the restaurant, reportedly causing a concussion.  Video of the altercation shared on Facebook neared 900-thousand views by Monday evening.  Yilmaz has a preliminary hearing set for January 25th.

Crews from several area fire departments responded to a fire Monday morning at a roadside food stand in Industry. According to the Beaver County times the fire took place around 11am on route 68. Police, medics and firefighters were all called to the food stand where they worked for a few hours to contain flames and investigate the cause. No injuries were reported.

An open cabin door is being blamed for a deadly single engine plane crash near Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in 2015.  The NTSB says they also determined the pilot, 68-year-old Terry Carlson, had a higher than therapeutic amount of amphetamine in his system at the time of the crash.  Carlson, his 27-year-old son Erick, and 26-year-old Jason Willems were all killed in the crash.
