Meadville, PA – Active Aging Foundation has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the Healthy Seniors, Healthy Pets Program and needs your help in continuing the program to provide nutritious pet food to senior pet owners receiving home-delivered meals.
New state regulations on the meals provided to senior citizens through Active Aging’s Home-Delivered Meals program means, seniors now receive meals with reduced calorie counts. Some pet owners share their meals with their pets, and if they would continue to share their home-delivered meals with their pets, they could end up depriving themselves of important nutrients and vital calories needed to maintain their own health and well-being.
One of the many reasons seniors will share their meals with their pets includes their lack of funds to buy an adequate amount of pet food each month. By supporting these seniors with a supplemental supply of pet food to help them meet their pet’s nutritional needs, the senior’s nutritional needs are also being met.
Independent donations have been used to sustain this program. However, the 2-year commitment of donated pet food is coming to an end and is not being renewed. To continue this valuable initiative, Active Aging needs your help. Please help them to raise the $1,000 per month that it takes to fund this program. The funds received will currently help 84 seniors feed 135 pets on the program.
