Body Found in French Creek May be Missing Meadville Man

Canoers found body near Wilson’s Chutes

Union Township, Crawford County, PA –

A body located in French Creek yesterday may be of a Meadville we’ve reported missing multiple times. Coroner Scott Schell will be performing an autopsy in Erie tuesday on what may possibly be the remains of Norman Rossey Junior who’s been missing since April 15th. State Police and Coroner Schell retrieved the remains at about 3:30pm and work has begun to identify the remains as well as cause of death. The body is said to be in an advanced state of decay.


Driver Injured by Falling Tree Branch

Thursday’s storm knocked a tree onto a driving car

East Mead Township, Crawford County, PA –

Adam Deeter of Cochranton was injured when a when a tree branch fell on his driving car. During one of Thursday’s thunderstorms in East Mead Township the falling branch smashed the roof of his car and causing him to hit another tree, he was treated at Meadville Medical Center.


Vernon Township Fire Department Re-Opens

Fire Chief suspended in emergency meeting

Vernon Township, Crawford County, PA –

Vernon Township Fire Department returned to service Friday night at about 8pm. Former fire chief John Yount was suspended for taking the station out of service, his replacement is said to be Derek Leskowak. Yount was suspended Friday in an emergency meeting in response to the shutting down of the department. Yount says that with Venango Central in operation there was no risk to the community and he stands by his decision.


Motorcyclist Dies in Erie Hospital

Richard Petruso died from injuries sustained in collision with car

Erie, PA –

A motorcyclist involved in a Thursday car accident died in UPMC Hamot yesterday morning. Richard Petruso collided with a car at the intersection of tenth and state streets in Erie and the accident is still being investigated. Footage from traffic cameras and eyewitness statements are what are being used to determine what happened. The name of the cars driver has not been released.


Clarion County Child Car Seat Safety Inspections

State Police help public with their car seats

Clarion County, PA –

In Clarion County State Police will be holding a couple child car safety seat inspections to help parents learn about the laws and adjust their seats appropriately. The first is today from 2 pm to 6 pm at Seidle Chevrolet in Clarion Boro, a second inspection will be at Elgin Beaverdam Volunteer fire department on June third from 11 am to 3 pm. The service is entirely free and drive ins are welcomed but you can call ahead to set an appointment.
