State Police from Butler are looking for a suspect in a non-fatal Slippery Rock Shooting. At 10:30 Monday night the shooter shot a local man during an altercation causing a non-life threatening injury. The shooter is described as a white male about six and a half feet tall wearing camouflage pants and a white shirt; if you have information call (814)285-8100.


Nipping Marijuana Zoning in the Bud

Washington Township proposes zoning laws for medical cannabinoids

Washington Township, Erie County, PA –

Erie County’s Washington Township is looking to be proactive and nip any medical marijuana production issues in the bud with some zoning laws. On June 6th a public meeting will be held about a proposed ordinance that would establish specific areas for marijuana growing and dispensaries. The zoning proposal would limit growing operations to industrial zoning areas and any dispensaries would have to be set up in commercial zones. The decision is being delayed while the supervisors wait for public commentary.


Clarion Rape Suspect Arrested in Tennessee

John Miller III accused of 2014 rape of teenage girl

Paint Township, Clarion County, Pa –

A suspect in a Clarion County rape has finally been arrested in Tennessee after two years of searching. John Miller III is accused of the 2014 rape of a 16 year old girl in Paint Township, he was extradited from Bedford County Jail in Tennessee on Friday. Miller, a Tennessee native, is said to have raped the daughter of a woman who had been his foster parent, he had been staying with while he raised the funds to return to Tennessee after spending time in Clarion County Jail. The rape was unreported for a year before the girl finally told her therapist about the attack.

Miller was arraigned before he even made it back up to Clarion County on felony charges of Forcible Rape by Compulsion, Sexual Assault, Aggravated Indecent Assault, and Corruption of a Minor. He also has a misdemeanor charge of Indecent Assault. He remains in Clarion County Jail on $50,000 bail and has a preliminary hearing on the 23rd.


Woman Caught DUI with Child in Carseat

Reported driving erratically, swerving into traffic

Franklin, PA –

A Grove City Woman is being charged with endangering the welfare of a child after allegedly being caught drunk driving with a four year old boy in the car. Samantha Simon was pulled over in the Parking Lot of McDonald’s by Franklin Police where they say she was driving in both lanes of traffic, she failed a field sobriety test during the stop. Simon is charged with DUI and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.


Owens Facing More Criminal Charges

Russel Owens Charged with 11 counts each of Aggravated Assault and Reckless Endangerment

Saegertown, PA –

After pleading guilty to stealing money from a former employer Russell Owens will be facing a trial for a wholly different set of charges. Owens will be going on trial for 11 counts of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment for not informing several sexual partners that he was HIV positive. A prosecutor from the Attorney General’s office will be handling the case. Owens still faces a sentencing hearing in Crawford County Court and a year long sentence for a federal firearm offense.
