Baby Downs Case: Suspect Attempted to Patch Broken Relationship


More information has been made public in the Baby Downs case, only days before the killing the suspect Antonio Velazquez-Rupert is Ariella’s father and was trying to woo his victim over social media. He and his victim Amanda Downs had once maintained a romantic relationship and he had been attempting to renew it with her. On New Year’s Eve it is alleged that Velazquez-Rupert broke into Downs’s Sharpsville apartment and bludgeoned her to death before making off with their baby Ariella and attempting to flee to Reading. Currently he is still lodged in Berks County Jail but will be transferred to Mercer County for a preliminary hearing soon.

 

‘Chill’ Baby First of the Year in Meadville


Meadville’s first baby of the year was born on New Year’s Day at 7:15pm. Isaac Wayne Losey weighed in at 6lbs 11oz and was 20 inches long at birth and has been described by his parents Alandis and Denny as “A really chill baby”. Isaac was able to go home for the first time yesterday shortly after his parents were interviewed by local media.

 

New PA Legislature Ready for Work


The newest Pennsylvania State Legislature swore into office yesterday to wrap up a day of banquets and photographs. 23 new and 177 re-elected representatives as well as 6 new and 19 incumbent senators pledged to serve the state and federal constitutions before adjourning to prepare for the first legislative session of the year on January 23rd. The year ahead will present a lot of challenges including a $1.7 billion deficit that Governor Tom Wolfe wants to tackle without increases fees or taxes.
