Pittsburgh Couple Injured in Rollover Crash on I-79


Icy roads in Crawford County injured a pair of travelers from Pittsburgh. Tahaila Currington and Jame’s Shanks were both taken to Meadville medical Center after losing control of the 2013 Malibu while traveling North in Vernon Township on I-79 and rolling the car on its roof at about 8:30 Thursday morning. Both of them wore seat belts and so far no information about the extent of their injuries has been released.

 

Board Member Takes Penncrest School District to Court


Penncrest School District is being taken to court by a member of its own School Board. Luigi DeFrancesco is taking the district’s superintendent over financial invoices, claiming that the school board cannot properly do its job without access to them and currently only the district super as access to them. Penncrest is in monetary trouble and had to cut 37 faculty positions in June to avoid bankruptcy. Superintendent Micheal Healey’s lawyer says that the complaint should be dismissed because there is no legal basis for it and that the previous School Board had determined that individual board members did not need to view the invoices.

 

Lake Effect Snow Hazard Still a Threat


Lake effect snow and all the hazards it poses will continue today. Penndot reduced the speed on Interstate 80 to 45 miles per hour last night because of road conditions and extra caution is being advised on Interstate 79 between Geneva and Edinboro where significant snow cover has been reported.
