A New Castle man faces charges following a one car accident in Slippery Rock Township.  According to State Police in Lawrence County 25 year old Ethan McClimans was northbouth on Rose Point Road, when whe traveled off the roadway, up an embankment and then struck a tree, causing his vehicle to turned over. McClimans was taken to UPMC Jameson for treatment and was ched with DUI and other traffic offenses.

The group attempting to bring a racetrack and casino to Lawrence County failed to obtain and maintain financing for the project, according to a ruling issued Monday by the state Gaming Control Board. According to the Ellwood City Ledger The formal ruling upheld a vote taken July 13 to deny or abandon Endeka Entertainment’s casino license request and formally issued a denial of the application. Endeka,which had been seeking approval for a racetrack and casino that would have been called Lawrence Downs and located in Mahoning Township — now has until Sept. 28 to file an appeal of the Gaming Control Board’s ruling.

President Obama is coming to Pittsburgh.  The Commander-in-Chief will attend the White House Frontiers Conference on October 13th.  The event, which is being co-hosted by the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University, will focus on science, technology and innovation.

A Butler County man is going to pay a 500-dollar fine for killing another man with his car.  John Turcic told police he was distracted, had taken an antidepressant and had a glass of vodka before the 2014 accident that killed William Kvindis in Adams Township.  Turcic hit Kvindis and sent him 16 feet into the air in the Adams Shoppes parking lot.  He was originally charged with homicide by vehicle while driving drunk but the charges were dropped last week after he pleaded guilty to careless driving.  Prosecutors say they could not prove his intoxication.

Gas prices are continuing to go up in the Keystone State.  PennsylvaniaGasPrices.com says the average price for a gallon of unleaded in Pennsylvania is now two-dollars and 33-cents a gallon, which is three-cents higher than last week.  The price is also higher than the national average of two-dollars and 22-cents.

Bruce Beemer is now the acting state attorney general.  Lawmakers unanimously voted Beemer in yesterday.  He’ll hold the position until a new attorney general is elected in November, and will then go back to his previous position as inspector general.

A large amount of drugs found at a local motel last week has led to the arrest of two Butler natives. According to Inside butler County, the Butler County District Attorney’s Drug Taskeforce arrested 34 year old Carrie Nelson and 26 year old Shane Miller were arrested last week at the Butler Township Super 8 motel.  Officers allegedly found a wide variety of drugs including 350 stamp bags of heroin, 100 grams of cocaine and 20 grams of crack cocaine. Nelson and Miller are awaiting arraignment on charges including Possession with Intent to Deliver.

A woman abducted by her husband is dead in Washington County.  State police officers announced late last night they found the body of 48-year-old Tierne Ewing.  Officers were at a barn in West Finley near the West Virginia border, which is near where their car had been found earlier yesterday.  The whereabouts of her husband, Kevin, were not announced.  This is second time in as many months that Ewing has been charged with kidnapping his wife.

Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia is coming back to the Keystone State.  The Democratic vice presidential nominee will be in Pittsburgh for the Labor Day parade.  Kaine and Hillary Clinton will campaign together in Cleveland on Monday as well.  Kaine is currently on a two-day tour of Pennsylvania, having stopped in Erie and Lancaster yesterday.  He’s in Lehigh Valley today.
