Governor Wolf is calling out Donald Trump. The Pennsylvania Democrat spoke at the Democratic National Convention last night, and took Trump’s business record to task. Wolf said when his company contracted with a vendor, they paid that vendor but Donald Trump stiffed hundreds of small businesses. Hillary Clinton made history last night as the first woman to secure the presidential nomination from a major party.
New evidence has prompted police to refile attempted murder charges against two former Farrell High football players in connection with a shooting last fall. According to the Sharon Herald 18 year old Cory Lamar Hilton, and 19 year old Corey Allen Adkins are accused of firing shots at a couple back on October 1st of last year in the 100 block of Capital Court. No injuries were reported, but the surrounding homes were occupied at the time when at least 13 shots were fired. Hilton and Adkins were taken to Mercer County Jail on Friday on $250,000 cash bond each. Both men face a multitude of charges in addition to attempted murder in the first degree, including conspiracy, aggravated assault, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure and reckless endangerment.
Hillary Clinton is getting a bump in the Pennsylvania polls thanks to Philadelphia. On the final day of the Democratic National Convention yesterday, a Suffolk University poll had Clinton leading Donald Trump, 50 percent to 41 percent in the state. Analysts say Clinton’s large lead in Philadelphia is balancing out her losses to Trump in other areas.
A Canonsburg subcontractor is facing charges for allegedly stealing almost a half-million dollars in connection to bridge work in Harrisburg. Andrew Manganas was indicted this week and is accused of embezzling the money from employee benefit and pension plans through his company, Panthera Painting. Officials say the company also released pollutants into the Susquehanna River when working on the George Wade Bridge.
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s rally Saturday in Pittsburgh has been moved to the David L. Supervisors in Union Township have named a new Police Chief. Accroding to the New Castle News Mark Julian was named during a meeting yesterday. Union Township had not had a police chief since 2012 but unstead had operated with two lieutenants in charge. Julian’s pay rate will remian the same as it was in his lieutenant positon.
Police are asking for help finding the person responsible for a burglary in East Butler. According to State Police, a white male entered a building ‘with force’ in the 700-block of Route 422 just before 4 a.m. on Wednesday. The man then took several unidentified items before leaving in an unknown direction, police say. The man is described as between 25 and 35 years old, between 5′ 5″ and 5′ 8″ tall and between 180 and 200 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to call state police in Butler County.
A Fayette County father and son are awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to child pornography charges. Robert Caldwell Sr. and Robert Caldwell the Second both entered the pleas yesterday, after a search of their South Union Township home found illegal images of young boys. The investigation began when the younger Caldwell showed a pornographic photo to male students at Laurel Highlands Middle School.
