New Tax Credits for Adoptive and Foster Families in the Pipeline
Pennsylvania’s House Finance Committee has approved a bill that would create a new tax credit for families which adopt or foster children. The bill’s prime sponsor, Representative Tarah Toohil, says it would establish a $1,000 adoption tax credit and a $500 foster care tax credit for families which provide stable homes for children in the care of the Department of Human Services. She went on to say that the opioid crisis has strained the state’s system to breaking because of parents with drug addictions.
