Eight Arrested in Philly Shooting Investigation

Another joint operation between state and local authorities in Philadelphia has resulted in the arrest of eight suspects involved in a string of gang related shootings throughout the city. According to the task force the eight arrestees were involved in 43 acts of violence in south Philadelphia over the last year. Their alleged spree of violence injured 35 people and killed three.

 

Woman Collides With PennDOT Sign Truck

State Police say Lisa Lorelli of Grove City was traveling along Interstate 80 around 9:45AM Tuesday morning when she collided with a PennDOT truck displaying a flashing light up arrow informing drivers to move into the left lane. The truck and it’s driver were part of a work crew setting up for a public works project in Venango County. Lorelli is charged with Reckless Driving.

 

Edinboro University Reveals eSports Program

On Monday Edinboro revealed a 3D rendering of the concept for their new eSports facility to be located in Hamilton Hall when they join the National Association of Collegiate eSports this fall. The University hopes that by being the first in Western Pennsylvania involved in competitive gaming they will attract more students to their game design programs which are ranked as among the top 25 best on the East Coast.

 

PA Corrections Employees Arrested for Smuggling

Three employees of the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections were arrested and charged with smuggling contraband and drugs into State Prisons.Two guards and a food service worker were arrested and charged this month; sources identify them as 36-year-old Rick Davis, 46-year-old Stephen Palermini and 35-year-old Skyler Galgon. It is unclear if they worked at the same facility.
