Roads Closed Due to Flooding Today

PennDOT has announced the closure of several roads due to flooding brought on by rain and snow melt. State Route 1041 also known as Fish Flats Road is closed in Crawford County between Garland Street in Centerville to White Road. In Forest County PennDOT has closed SR 3004 known as Nebraska Road from German Hill Road to Sage Road in Green Township. In Mercer County; Springfield Church Road (SR 2007) from Elliott Road in Findley Township to Cranberry Road in Pine Township and Methodist Road (SR 4019) between Salem and Kanard Roads are closed. The roadways will reopen when conditions permit. Always be alert to water on roadways, obey warning signs and traffic control devices, and never drive through flooding or standing water on roads. Roads may not be intact under pools of water and even shallow, swiftly flowing water can wash a car from a roadway.

 

Union City Man Arrested After Diving Naked Through Window, Setting Apartment on Fire

On Tuesday in Union City an unidentified 48 year old man was arrested after jumping naked from the window of his 2nd story apartment. Police are not forthcoming with a reason for the incident but it began shortly after midnight on Monday night when the man barricaded himself into his second story apartment with furniture and then deliberately tipped over his hot stove which caused a small fire and filled the entire building with smoke. He’s been charged with reckless endangerment, arson, causing or risking a catastrophe, and disorderly conduct.

 

Knox Recieves $3.1 Million in Sewer Funds

The town of Knox in Clarion County has been approved to receive more than $3 Million for the installation of a public sewer utility. The funding includes a grant of $1.6 million from Pennvest and a $1.5 million loan with a 1% interest rate. After completion the sewer system will be about two miles long and serve 63 customers.
