So it’s official! The new Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, is now the highest grossing biopic of all time. Beating out Straight Out Of Compton and I Walk The Line! Deservedly so!!! I got to see the flick on opening weekend and it is fantastic. You get a real look into the life and emotional turmoil of Freddie Mercury, the formation of the band, their drive to blaze their own trail to be the best and the stumbling blocks they overcame along the way.
While they may have fudged the time line of certain events, it’s obvious they did it for dramatic and theatrical reasons and I was more than ok with that. The actors who played the band members were spot on! There where times in the movies that I forgot the actor playing Brian May, wasn’t Brian May! And Mike Myers, of Wayne’s World fame, had a wink to the camera scene that was just brilliant!!!
All in all, Bohemian Rhapsody was a touching tribute to one of the most dynamic front-men of all time and more than deserving of the honor of highest grossing biopic of all time. I think this film will see numerous award nominations and even an Oscar nod when it’s all said and done.
You don’t have to be a Queen fan to enjoy this movie, but it doesn’t hurt! Go check it out for yourself!
Until next time….
